In addition to the regular music curriculum, Saint Andrew School offers individual and small group lessons on a variety of musical instruments. Mrs. Susan Torrie offers piano lessons to students in all grades. Mr. Larry Davidson provides lessons on a variety of band instruments to children in grades 4 through 8. The children perform twice a year for the student body and their parents at our annual Christmas Concert and the Spring Concert. Saint Andrew School Band was rated exemplary in 2015 and 2016 at the National Catholic Band Competition held at Villanova University.
Saint Andrew students in grades 5 through 8 have the opportunity to share their talents for acting, singing and dancing on stage by participating in the annual school show. The show also provides practice for future stage hands. Honk, Jr was presented in 2015 and Lion King, Jr. brought down the house in 2016! The school show for 2018 is School House Rock with performances on February 9th, 10th and 11th.
The highlight of the 8th grade year is the performance of the Passion Play. This long time tradition allows our 8th grade students to reflect on and re-enact the Passion, Death and Resurrection of our Lord. Performances are on Palm Sunday at 7:00 PM in Church and the following Monday at 1:00 PM.
