Welcome to Grade 6 Math!
We will be working on proportional relationships, expressions and equations, review all operations offractions and decimals, Geometry, problem solving, and statistics and probability.
It is so important for the students to have memorized their multiplication facts. These are the building blocks for higher math. If your child is having trouble with memorization of these tables, there are many videos, worksheet, and online games to review. Also, flash cards purchased at the Dollar Store are tried and true!
Homework is also posted on the homework board in the classroom. There will be times when homework will change because of several reasons. There could be an unexpected interruption in the weekly plan or students may need reteaching of a concept or additional practice in an area of study.
It is important that the student use his/her planner to copy from the classroom homework board in case this page does not get updated. Also, students collected three phone numbers from reliable classmates in case they need to clarify any homework.
Student responsibility is to complete homework every night in spite of extracurricular activities - Education comes first - no excuses, no exceptions!

Students must always complete all homework and not decide to not try a problem because they don’t understand. In the workbook, students know to refer to the gray box at the top of the lesson for sample problems and steps to complete the pages. Also, use https://www.khanacademy.org/ for any difficulties or review of what we are learning.
Students’ responsibilities are to advocate for their learning by asking questions, answering questions, and showing all work. And ask me for help if it is needed.
I am looking forward to a great year!
