Dear 8th Grade Students,
Welcome to the 2024-25 school year at SAS! We are excited to welcome you back! It is time to begin thinking about eighth grade, new teachers, new classes, graduation, and high school! This will be a very exciting year for us and each of you! All of the hard work and dedication you have put into your schoolwork throughout the years has helped get you to this point. Eighth grade is a time to prepare for the responsibilities of high school and the more long-term goal of lifelong learning. This year, the academic expectations will increase in preparation for meeting these goals.
There will be many events you will be participating in as an eighth-grade student. Those events will be listed below under eighth-grade events, as well as the monthly school events and other important school information.

Amen.
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports:In May of 2018, the PBIS program was introduced to our students through lesson plans and consistent modeling. PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. We have adopted this program to encourage good behavior and consider this as important as academics. The key to PBIS is prevention, not punishment. Expectations for Responsibility, Empathy, and Respect- The 3 B's for Arrival/Dismissal, Hallways, Lunchroom, Church, Bathrooms, Recess Yard, and Transitions have been presented to the student body and the different matrices are displayed and visible throughout both buildings in the corresponding areas. "Cardinal Cash" will be used by all teachers and administration when a student is caught showing one of the 3 B's outside of the classroom. Teachers will continue to use their own unique reward systems in their classrooms.
