Code.org - Computer Programming will be incorporated into the Computer Curriculum for grades K-8

First Lego League -
An after school robotics program for grades 5th - 8th.  Students will learn how to build and program robots.  

" FIRST LEGO League gives middle school students and their adult coaches the opportunity to work and create together to solve a common problem. Challenged to research a real-world problem, then create an original solution for that problem, plus design and build a robot using a LEGO ^® MINDSTORMS ^®  kit* within a common set of rules to accomplish “missions” on a playing field, brings out the best in students and adults alike.
The theme changes each season, requiring teams to be extraordinarily creative".

Kindergarten - Login instructions, iPad instruction, keyboarding, Microsoft Word, Internet Safety

 

1st - 4th grades - iPad instruction, keyboarding, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, iMovie, Internet Safety, Internet Research

5th - 8th grades - iPad instruction, Keyboarding, iMovie, Internet Safety, Internet Research, Website Creation, Computer Fair (6th and 7th grade), Google Classroom, Google Apps and blogs, Chromebook instruction.

Grades K-4 are taught coding skills using  http://www.code.org  
Grade 5-8 are taught coding skill susing  https://codecombat.com/

Our students in grades 6-8 have been participating in the PA Middle School Computer Fair since 2012. The Computer Fair includes the following categories: Logo Design, Web Design, Animation, Graphic Design, Programming and Digital Movie.
